In terms of style, this is so ‘classic’ and right in my wheelhouse. Medium to full-bodied, but deep and muscular with that clichéd ‘tar and roses’ thing, plum and dark cherry, some black liquorice and mint. The tannin is thick and mouth-coating, but not aggressive, acidity perfectly pitched and sweet orange-juicy, and there’s a robust tobacco and black tea finish of fine length. Do yourself a favour? 94+ Points.
