Chateau Roumieu Sauternes 2015 375ml
Revered worldwide, this blend of semillon and sauvignon blanc is liquid marmalade. When young it shows an array of fruity aromas and honeysuckle, but with graceful ageing, it becomes a delectable marmalade of dried fruit, acacia, lime, and honey. It can be enjoyed at any time and will easily cellar for a decade or more.
Aromas of dried fruit, flowers (acacia or lime tree), honey and roasted grain.
89% Semillon, 10% Sauvignon Blanc, 1 % Muscadelle
Full bodied and lots of succulence, thanks to the juicy acidity provided by the Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc.
In order to make the finest wine possible, the grapes at Château Roumieu are painstakingly picked by hand one by one, in successive sweeps through the vine rows, with sometimes as many as 3-6 sweeps per block, picking only the grapes 100% affected by botrytis. The wine is then slowly vinified and matured in oak barrels for 18 months.
The Château is located on the calcareous-clay plateau of Haut-Barsac, on the same terroir as the most prestigious Cru wines of Sauternes, with Climens (1st cru) and Doisy-Védrines (2nd cru) both adjoining the property.
