'Aroha', meaning 'love' in Te Reo Maori is based on two unique parcels of Pinot Noir grapes grown in rocky soils at the Te Muna Road vineyard in Martinborough.

These special parcels, including one of the legendary 'Abel' clone, are selected for 'Aroha' because of their individual expression of the vineyard, complex aromatic profile and sensational savoury, earth-bound texture and length.

Dark ruby-red colour with moderate depth, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is refined in expression with firmly concentrated aromas of dark red berry fruits and black cherries harmoniously melded of soft, complexing layers of dried herbs and whole cluster stalk perfumes. The aromatics build in depth and intensity, unveiling dark-red florals, dark plums and earthy detail. Medium-full bodied, the palate features rich and lusciously sweet, ripe fruit flavours of dark-red berry fruits integrated with savoury, earthy plums to form a tightly packed and deep heart. The mouthfeel is soft, plush and seamless in texture with refined structure and grip. Layers of savoury dark herbs and whole cluster stalk complexities unfold to provide considerable interest. Some underlying alcoholic power carries the rich fruit, with ripe acidity lending roundness. The wine leads to a softly concentrated, gently lingering finish of savoury detail. This is a soft, plush, seamless and sweetly rich Pinot Noir with dark red berry and plum fruit with complex whole bunch complexities. Serve with casseroles and game meat dishes over the next 6-8+ years. 60% clone 114, 25% Abel and 15% 667 from the ‘Te Muna Road’ vineyard, hand-picked and indigenous yeast fermented with 50% whole clusters to 13.8% alc., the wine spending 18-25 days on skins, and aged 10 months in 30% new French oak barriques.

Luxurious Pinot from New Zealand's Martinborough, Aroha has sour cherry, rose, and forest undergrowth aromas. A seamless, silky palate of superb balance. Drink over eight years with Peking Duck.

This is the best pinot Craggy Range has released to date. Looks lively and fresh with a wealth of cherry and purple berry fruits on the nose, a lick of sappy bright berry fruits, the inclusion of whole bunches has added a layer of more fragrant and attractive perfume to this wine, the oak is assertive but settled into stride, there’s plenty to like here. The palate has an innate sense of lightness with concentrated flavours, a stylish contrast of detail and light and shade, tannins are precisely defined and there’s a core of bright red cherry flavour that holds crunchy and fresh with a vibrant and energetic surge up through the finish.

Very pure, elegant Pinot Noir that delivers power with consummate subtlety. Red cherry, raspberry, violet and mineral underpinned by spicy French oak. A thoroughly seductive wine that can be appreciated now but has plenty of cellaring potential.

A pinot noir of restraint and coiled-up potential, with layered complexity of spice, red berry fruits and white pepper underscored by an outstanding frame of superfine tannins that draw the finish out long and mineral, with a mouth feel and texture that encapsulates the ancient voice of Martinborough gravel. Texturally it is on another plane, set for an outstanding future.

Has that heightened aromatic profile that great Pinot Noir can get, perfumed, rich cherry fruit, mahogany wood back notes, fine spice detail, faint whiff of dried herbs and undergrowth. Brooding power beckons. Savoury tannin drives the wine, dark, juicy fruit swirls, but its the twiggy, briary tannins that are the take home. Structure, firmness, then that flicker of pretty. It’s drinking superbly but you know this will age wonderfully too. Let it unfurl.

A compelling pinot noir from their Te Muna vineyard. It is gloriously complex and fragrant on the nose showing dark berry, aged game, nutmeg and floral characters with hints of dried herbs and cedar. The palate offers exceptional fruit concentration and weight, yet refined and elegant, and delivers silky texture and fine, delicately drying tannins. A lovely symphony of flavours, all contributing in harmony.

Craggy Range's flagship pinot is a supremely elegant wine with impressive power. Red cherry, raspberry, violet and mineral underpinned by spicy French oak. It promises more complexity with bottle age.
