'Aroha', meaning 'love' in Te Reo Maori is based on two unique parcels of Pinot Noir grapes grown in rocky soils at the Te Muna Road vineyard in Martinborough.

These special parcels, including one of the legendary 'Abel' clone, are selected for 'Aroha' because of their individual expression of the vineyard, complex aromatic profile and sensational savoury, earth-bound texture and length.

Dense, rich pinot noir with sweet, plum, dark berry, floral/violet, spice/anise and nutty oak flavours. Intense flavoursome wine that is deliciously accessible now but has a promising future.

Classic Martinborough Pinot here, with the dried roses, thyme and dried herbs, cherry and blackberry, and sweetly spiced smoky caramel scented oak. Medium bodied, cool acidity, firm fine grained tannin with spice and savoury ashen whole bunch complexity, cherry and rose oil perfume, intense and very long, with emery tannin trailing in the aftertaste. Yep. Excellent.

Raymond Chan Wine Reviews, June 2017
Very dark, deep-hearted black-hued ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is full and voluminous with evenly packed aromas of dark-red and black cherry and berry fruit complexed by fragrant dark-red and violet florals melded with whole bunch stalk perfumes. This is seamlessly integrated and very harmonious in expression, with increasing depth, unfolding layers of detail in the glass. Medium-full bodied, the palate has rich and vibrant, lusciously sweet and ripe fruit flavours of dark-red cherry and berry fruit layered with complexing notes of savoury whole bunch stalk perfumes, dark and dried herbs, intermixed with dark-red and violet florals. The fruit richness is supported by considerable fine-grained tannin extraction, and the wine flows along a velvety textured line with fresh acidity lending tension and drive. The flavours carry to a very long, sweet and lusciously rich, complex-nuanced finish. This is a sweet, vibrant, lusciously rich, dark-red berry and cherry fruited Pinot Noir with complex layers of whole bunch, herb and floral notes on a velvety palate of great depth.19.5/20

This wine's aromatics are sensational, full of red berry fruit-cum-floral charm. It finesses its way across the palate, fine in structure with a generous, yet unshowy, fruit presence. Craggy's best pinot yet. From fine wine stores.

An impressively composed pinot noir from their Te Muna Road Vineyard, the gloriously complex bouquet shows dark cherry, plum, smoked game, truffle and bay leaf aromas. The palate is refined and superbly weighted, and displays outstanding fruit power as well as seductive savoury nuances, wonderfully framed by fine, grainy tannins. The wine is engaging, hugely complex and sturdy. At its best: 2018 to 2027.

The Real Review, 24 October 2017
Dense, rich Pinot noir with sweet plum, dark berry, floral, violet, spice, anise and nutty oak flavours. Intense, flavoursome wine has a perfect balance that is deliciously accessible now but has a promising future. The wine has a perfect balance of fruit sweetness and ripe tannins. It is long and layered with impressive complexity.

The vineyard suffered from only 50% fruit set – this has certainly concentrated the wine! Very pure, precise and vital the nose is lush and sonorous and there is a nice whole bunch element shining through (50%). Red-fruited and cherry-driven, with superb gloss and slipperiness, this is a superb, classy wine with a brightly acidic finish and some decent oak backing it up (30% new oak). There is toastiness on the back palate which is cunningly offset with the crispness of the stems. Very sexy and curvaceous but not at all heavy this is another great Aroha. 18.5 Points.

A terrific follow-up to the outstanding 2014, this has a neat interplay of power and silky elegance that gets to the core of great pinot noir. Plenty of brambly and spicy ripe red cherries and plums, then there's a silky flow of tannins that builds and expands in impressive style. An extremely smart pinot noir. Drink now and for some years to come.
