Once known as the "Block 14" Syrah, the Gimblett Gravels Syrah is now a wine made using multiple parcels from the vineyard.

The blending of these different parcels combine to create a wine that is truly distinct and appealing.

The vines originate from a Heritage clone of Syrah brought to New Zealand approximately 150 years ago. It produces a wine with an aromatic lift of floral and pepper aromatics and a lushness and denseness on the palate combined with fresh and fine natural acidity.

Juicy blueberry and blackberry flavours are fresh and vibrant, offering accents of white pepper, peppercorn and espresso. Harmonious on the long, expressive finish, with velvety tannins. Drink now through 2027.

If you don’t order this wine quickly, it will disappear. Only a small number of cases of this fabulously savoury syrah hit Australian shores. It has reserved fruit with distinct peppery spice, a hint of earthiness and welcomed restraint that will have you coming back for more. I adore its food friendly nature and its sense of place. Decant, sip slowly, and watch it evolve.

A fresh array of ripe blackberry, blueberry and cassis fruits. Sweet-smelling, fresh and exuberantly ripe. The palate has a neat core of fine tannins and plenty of peppery berry fruit flavor. Drinking well. Screw cap.

Violets, dark berries, black currant, black cherry, broody toasty oak and pepper; a layer of oak spices and chocolate add depth and complexity. On the palate – warm, rich, fruity, youthful, spicy, oaky and dry – a wine still very youthful yet showing the concentration, acidity and core needed for longer term ageing; medium+ tannins, full-bodied and peppery; No mistaking the strike of oak. Long finish, fabulous balance and well made. Drink from 2019 to past 2030.

The Syrah variety is completely at home in Hawke's Bay's Gimblett Gravels and this distinct, peppery take is testament to that marriage.
