Weighty, fully dry style, with youthful, ripe stonefruit flavours and hints of pears and spices. Rich, finely textured wine, already drinking well.

Pinot gris is a popular wine in New Zealand. It also enjoys wide acceptance in Australia, where it's also known by its Italian name, pinot grigio. The "gris" style is usually richer, riper and sometimes a little sweet; "grigio" is generally lighter, drier and more savoury. Be warned that quality varies enormously, but Craggy Range's Martinborough version sums up the best of the Kiwi gris style. Appealing pear, spice and Asian herb aromas lead through a plush, rich palate of nicely sustained flavour and firm structure.
