Lively crimson. Real fan of flavours on the nose – unusual in this context. Very bright Marlborough signature on the palate – another wine that really succeeds within the Marlborough idiom. Very slight coffee note on the end. But long and impressive. 17/20

Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2014 Pinot Noir offers a great core of ripe mulberries, black cherries and black raspberry notes with hints of garrigue, lavender and roses. The soft, satiny, medium-bodied palate offers mouth-filling berry flavors, finishing long and perfumed.

This classy, finely structured red is estate-grown on the south side of the Wairau Valley and matured for 18 months in French oak barriques (40 per cent new in 2014). The delicious 2014 vintage has deep, youthful colour. The bouquet is fragrant, plummy and spicy; the palate is mouthfilling, with well-ripened plum/spice flavours, showing excellent complexity and richness, in a very savoury style with gentle acidity and impressive harmony.
