Dog Point Pinot Noir is one of the icons of Marlborough and for good reason. Ivan and James are maestro’s at producing superb pinot noir and this wine is no exception. Dark red berry and cherry fruits blend seamlessly with dark herbs, earthiness, raspberry liqueur and liquorice elements, all wrapped up a fine-grained tannin and refined structural bow. Pairs exquisitely with all the classic pinot matches like duck and other game birds, red meats and mushroom dishes.

Cherry, mint nougat, plum and aromatic herbs. It’s medium bodied, fleshy and full of flavour, grainy tannin shapes it up, plump fruit with cool acidity, and a long tannin dusted finish. Lovely wine. Delightful.

Elegant, plush flavors of plum and black cherry are accented by black tea, spice and licorice notes. Gains momentum on the finish.

Raymond Chan Wine Reviews, New Zealand, April 2016
Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with dark purple hues, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is finely concentrated with bright and complex detailed aromas of dark red berry and cherry fruit intermixed with dark herbs and whole cluster aromatic stalk notes and some earthiness, unfolding dark red floral, raspberry liqueur and liquorice elements. Medium-bodied, the palate is refined and tightly concentrated with gently rich and plush flavours of dark red berry fruits, plums and liquorice entwined with spices, herbs and savoury whole cluster stalk elements, as well as violet florals. The wine has fine-grained tannins and structure balancing the sweet fruit, with integrated acidity lending drive and line. The wine carries to a refined, lingering finish of dark fruits and savoury herb and floral detail. This is an elegantly concentrated, rich Pinot Noir with dark berry fruit and complexing herb and spice notes, and a refined structure. Match with pork, lamb, beef and venison over the next 6 years. 19/20

Lively crimson. Real fan of flavours on the nose – unusual in this context. Very bright Marlborough signature on the palate – another wine that really succeeds within the Marlborough idiom. Very slight coffee note on the end. But long and impressive. 17/20

Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2014 Pinot Noir offers a great core of ripe mulberries, black cherries and black raspberry notes with hints of garrigue, lavender and roses. The soft, satiny, medium-bodied palate offers mouth-filling berry flavors, finishing long and perfumed.

This classy, finely structured red is estate-grown on the south side of the Wairau Valley and matured for 18 months in French oak barriques (40 per cent new in 2014). The delicious 2014 vintage has deep, youthful colour. The bouquet is fragrant, plummy and spicy; the palate is mouthfilling, with well-ripened plum/spice flavours, showing excellent complexity and richness, in a very savoury style with gentle acidity and impressive harmony.
