This quintessential Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is right on point with its tropical fruitiness – think guava, melon, lemon and lime, herbal whiffs and talc-like mineral sweetness. It’s pure, racy and packed with juiciness. If you’re after a young, fresh, zesty Sauvignon Blanc with squeaky acidity, you’ve come to the right place. The Dog Point boys have delivered yet again. Matches shell fish (particularly mussels and oysters), white meats and soft cheeses to a tee.

Very racy, alluring, complex nose with some reductive struck-match character. Rather splits the difference between Marlborough and Sancerre. Creamy undertow with exciting top notes. Extraordinary tension on the palate. Dry but not drying finish. Long. Very accomplished and intense. 17/20.

One of my top wines from a rain-affected vintage that smiled on low-cropping vineyards, which ripened earlier than their more commercial cousins. A wine of exquisite purity and appealing intensity.

More complex sauvignon blanc. The nose has smoky hints, whispers of sulphide, and limey fruit. The palate is structured yet richly flavoured with lovely balance, ahead of a tight, lingering finish. Drink over three years.

Intense, ripe sauvignon blanc with tree fruit, nectarine, red capsicum and guava flavours. A rich, gently tangy and deliciously accessible wine that stood out from the crowd in a tasting of 2018 wines.

Is there a more iconic example of New Zealand sauvignon blanc than Dog Point? 2018 sees the label back to its powerful expressive best — grassy, herbal aromatics leap out of the glass. But there is also some weight, and texture, too. A serious, finely crafted wine that would grace any dinner table.

Hand-harvested at several sites in the Wairau Valley, this wine is lees-aged in tanks and handled without oak. Tightly structured, it is mouthfilling (13% alc/vol), sweet-fruited and very youthful, with strong, vibrant, ripely herbaceous flavours, showing a distinct touch of complexity that builds to a long, dry finish. Certified organic.

A relatively new name on the Marlborough scene, but don't let that fool you - Dog Point's owners have years of experience in the region (with Cloudy Bay) and this label is much sought after. A refined and elegant Marlborough sauvignon, beautifully textured and with smooth tropical and cream layers. Drink by 2023.
