Maturation

Following the malo-lactic fermentation the wine is racked and left in tank on fine lees for around 8-10 months prior to bottling.

Oaked
Palate

Dark rich fruit flavours with spice, violets and cranberries. The acidity is tight and fine, with ripe tannins and a flash of meat to the minerally finish.

Vinification

Following the hand harvest, the fruit was 50% de-stemmed and fermented quite warm at 25-35 degrees Celsius in cement tanks for a week to 10 days, with some carbonic maceration.

Floral-violet nose. Very much on the fruit but good intensity. Finely woven tannins. Pure and almost feminine for a Morgon.

Deep ruby. An expansive, deeply perfumed bouquet evokes ripe cherry and blueberry, and suave vanilla and floral nuances build in the glass. Broad and weighty but graceful as well, offering sweet dark fruit, spice cake and violet pastille flavors given spine by juicy acidity. Supple tannins build slowly on the finish, which lingers with superb clarity and spice-tinged persistence. This wine drinks as much like a Burgundy as any Beaujolais I know. Drink 2018 - 2024.
