Palate

Lemon zest, lemon curd, preserved lemon, ripe pink grapefruit and crisp green apple fruits balance well with acidity that is present but not obtrusive. Quartz like minerality adds drive and freshness to the perfectly judged phenollyc texture and subsequent elegance of this wine.

Vinification

Fruit was machine harvested at night when coolest and transferred to the winery to be immediately destemmed and crushed into the press, thus preserving freshness. The must was gently pressed to tank with a careful press cut made separating free run and pressings. The wine was settled and the clear juice racked to tank for a cool fermentation with an inoculated yeast strain. The wine was fermented to complete dryness, then rack from its lees and blended before fining, stabilisation and early bottling to preserve freshness.

Lemon lime sherbet characters to the nose with oyster shell-like minerality. A tight true varietal palate with lime overlay and some piercing acidity creating interest. 4.5 stars.

Light-straw colour with a fruity aroma recalling orange and mandarin juice, with a hint of passionfruit. It's really quite overt for such a young wine. The palate is crisp and tangy with a racy finish - the heightened lemony acidity making it seem a little short. It's very good nonetheless.

Takes a little time to get into its stride, but there's no stopping it once it gets going, the palate with mouthwatering lemon citrus fruit embraced by minerally acidity, the finish long and convincing.
