Palate

On the palate you will see a mouth-watering lightness of structure, with a contribution to the mouthfeel from the inclusion of a small quantity of grape solids during fermentation. It’s long, lean and sinewy, with a twist of acidity (think citrus pith) that ensures a dry, blanched almond-like, finish.

While you might want to get all excited by the appearance of this year's whites, this argues the case for enjoying riesling along its journey - and this is only just starting to show glimpses of its ageing prowess. The TRKN talks to the Germanic Trocken style of super dry riesling, and in this guise it is vibrantly driven by fresh cut green apple flavours and salivating minerals with the finest of pith acidity. Riesling addicts will love it in a line up.

Winemaker Notes

We made a fine, dry, crisp Adelaide Hills Riesling under the Nepenthe label for many years from 1998, after an earlier 7 vintages with Jeff Grosset in the Clare Valley. So while the off-dry ‘25GR’ was the style we first chose for the Vertigo label, we could not resist making a bone-dry Vertigo as well.
