The Mountadam 2016 Gewurztraminer is all High Eden Valley fruit from a recently acquired vineyard – and the first made by the winery. Its aromas are no-holds-barred with rose, musk and turkish delight as expected. But it’s the flavour of pink lady apple, sweet cinnamon, even sumac spice and underlying acidity that makes this such a summery refreshment. Get some five spice pork belly to go with it.

Halliday Wine Companion, June 2017
A delicious wine, although without the
exuberant aromas and flavours of Alsace. It has
the spice, lychee and rose petal notes to a larger
or lesser degree, but it’s the intensity, length,
grip and balance that really appeal.

Eden Valley a good place for Gewürztraminer.
Well, this is a good one. It has all the rose,
musk and spice markers of your typical GT,
plus tangerine and green apple freshness, with
juicy acidity, a gentle chalky texture and a
particularly long finish, closing with a twist
of orange peel bitterness. It took me about 10
seconds to work out I liked this wine, which is
always a good sign.
