Maturation was carried out for twelve months in French oak barriques (10% new barrels, 50% 1-2 year old barrels, 40% older barrels).

Palate
The palate is fruit forward with characters of plum and blackberry dominating the mid-palate. The wine has an underlying spiciness and supple round tannins.

Vinification
The fruit was harvested in late March 2015. The parcels were fermented in 8T fermenters with heading down boards. The ferment was rack and returned twice daily.

Perfumed and meaty, blackberry and liquorice, spice and low-key vanilla oak. Medium-weight, spicy and chocolaty, plum and blackberry – quite rich – but meaty and spicy too. Offers a firm mass of chocolaty tannin, balanced acidity and a warm, but satisfying finish. Good value with it too.

This is a very good Eden Valley shiraz. The colour is bright, the bouquet with scents of spice and pepper as well as fruit, the texture of the medium-bodied palate, and its length and balance, are all very good, the black cherry fruit is delicious.
