Dark chocolate and cherries are at the heart of this shiraz. A sprinkling of spices including pepper and clove adds complexity to the delicious forest berry fruit flavours. This is an elegant wine with great structure and fine tannins. It's great drinking now but can easily be cellared for another 8-10 years for further fruit development. Pork belly, braised lamb shanks or barbecued steak would make an excellent food match.

Wow, this is drop-dead gorgeous starting with its amazing deep purple and crimson; then the heady aromas and flavours kick-in think raspberry sorbet, black plums, florals and a smidge of black pepper and cedary oak and all in perfect balance with supple and velvety tannins. It has elegance and fineness in abundance.

Norfolk Rise has most definitely pulled a rabbit out of a hat here. It’s a ripping wine. It’s savoury and herbal and all those good things, quite bunchy and stemmy you could say, but it’s also poured with pure, deep, ripe fruit, all plum-shot, spearminty, black cherried and meaty. It’s the kind of wine that just glides through the mouth, all satiny and sure, though the thing is: it’s also struck with smoky, spicy tannin, and a good deal of it. In short, you would never pick it as an $18 wine. It has all the characters and qualities of a $40+ wine,. It also benefits greatly from a stint in the decanter. There’s little wonder it’s also caused a stir on the show circuit.
