Vinification

A native of Italy, Vermentino is generating a lot of interest in the wine community due to its heat tolerance and ability to produce beautiful crisp and fresh wines, perfect for the Australian palate. This minimal intervention Vermentino is made with indigenous yeast, has no added acid and is made without the use of oak.

Vermentino from an elite McLaren Vale producer. It’s tutti-fruity and highly evocative of banana lollies, especially on the nose, though the fruit on the palate is pure, fresh and well-concentrated, and the latter is the winner on the day. Length of flavour here is good.

A wonderfully refreshing wine built for thirst quenching. It's a versatile wine too - have on its own, with fresh or cooked seafood or a range of chicken and pasta dishes. Racy acidity is what gets me in the mood. A dancy wine, it moves on the balls of its feet with absolute ease. Add lemon juice, honey tones, a tiny hint of nuttiness before a salivating lemony tang clings to a dry and moreish finish. Drink now to three years.

Light straw-green colour, with an interesting bouquet of greener herbal nuances as well as smoky reduction and perhaps a touch of the oak barrel. A strong, rich, complex rendition of vermentino. It has a lot of character, flavour, and interest. The palate architecture has good intensity as well as softness, balance and length.

Some fresh, stony nuances, ahead of lemon blossom, cut grass and melon. The palate is crisp, dry and zesty. Drink now.

This minimal-intervention vermentino shows aromas of talcum powder, fresh lemon, honey and oyster shell. The palate is light and fresh with tight, lemony acid and honey-like floral characters.
