Tasting Note
Aroma

A complex nose with varietal definition that offers black berry fruits and dark cherry intermingled with cedar and oak spice, leafy notes and subtle earthiness.

Maturation

Post pressing, wine completed fermentation in barrel, approximately 30% new French oak and remaining 1-3 year old. After 16 months of maturation, the wine was barrel selected and blended to ensure a wine of balanced oak and varietal Cabernet Sauvignon characters was achieved.

Palate

The palate shows seamless style and substance with an abundance of generosity and varietal Cabernet Sauvignon flavour. The oak adds layers and supports the fruit whilst the fine long tannins provide structure and a length to charm.

Hand tended, low-yielding vines on loamy topsoil over a clay base. 30% new French oak, 16 months maturation. Textbook McLaren Vale cabernet with every hair in place. Blackcurrant aromas (a hint of dried currant as well) with a milky chocolate overlay and dusty, cedary varietal character. Smoothly textured, but there's depth to the flavours and the tannin is spot on. (Steven Creber)

Richness and concentration are the strengths of this cabernet, while the bouquet has a distinctive ginger-spice note. Oak makes a strong statement and the tannins are firm and give the palate plenty of structure. It will age well. 93.5 Points

The cabernet shows plenty of generosity of fruit flavour, supported by oak and fine long tannins.

This release is hearty with blackberried, curranty fruit, ripe and straightforward, with a light coating of creamy vanillin oak adding softness and general texture. Tannin is assertive but well integrated and while the acidity seems a little awry at first, given time to breathe both the fruit and tannin gain purpose and depth, pulling the wine into balance in the process. This is a substantial red wine with plenty up its sleeve. It should mature well over a long-ish period.
