Vinification

Fruit was hand picked and open fermented with gentle hand plunging. After 14 days on skins, optimum balance between flavour and tannin extraction was achieved and wine was pressed off skins and matured in old French Hogsheads for 12 months. Barrels remained on lees with regular topping to encourage texture and complexity and to preserve and respect the delicate nature of this parcel.

Delicious red wine. Pretty, fragrant, red berried and supple, the mix of fruit and spice managed just so, the lick of anise more woody than sweet, the oak apparent but as an onlooker mostly. This is modern day Grenache, in an excellent way. It’s not heavy, it’s not overblown, it’s not dense, but it’s light on its feet and awash with rose petals and redcurrant. It’s not overly complex, you might argue, but the drinking enjoyment it offers is very high.

Pure grenache flavour, sweet and spicy at once, at no point overdone, overoaked or ever threatening either, is delivered along the palate in svelte form. It is, as a result, tremendously delicious. (Campbell Mattinson)

This is an amazing vintage here. It has good fruit weight and generosity, and is a great example of purity and focus of our grenache style.

Medium to deep red/purple colour; red plum and gentle spice aromas with a trace of earth. The palate is big and full, super-ripe and sweet-fruited, with a touch of syrupiness, countered by ample firm tannins. Delicious.
