A wonderfully layered wine this montepulciano offers mixed forest fruit scents, slight spices linger; think woody notes. The palate shows generous berry fruit flavours, some great, refreshing acidity with subtle herb and spice complexities. A great, expressive example of montepulciano.

Vinification

The grapes were handpicked and pressed to tank for fermentation. Fermentation was carried out over nine days on skins with frequent pumpovers. A further week on skins post-ferment brought a little more structure and actually softened the tannins of this ripe vintage. The wine was pressed to barrel to age for six months prior to bottling.

Mixed forest berry scents, dusting of spice, dark chocolate faintly, some woody-clove going on. A really nice bouquet, seems generous from the start. Fleshy yet fresh feeling in the palate, mixed berry flavours, tart but refreshing acidity, a lick of green herb, spice, a light chew of tannins to close. Ticks lots of boxes for a more vibrant expression of the variety.
