The aromas of this wine flow easily - neat red fruits are delicately laced with more complex characters.

Palate

Red cherry, plum skin and raspberry characters are abundant, bay leaf and tea-tree aromas are woven throughout with touches of spice and woodsmoke complementing the fruit.

Vinification

The parcels harvested were about 30% whole bunch ferment with the remainder destemmed, aiming to maximise the amount of whole berries in the ferment. The whole bunch ferments were gradually crushed by hand and finally foot trod to break the grapes open throughout the three week ferment. The destemmed ferments were plunged once a day, no more. The wine was naturally fermented and following pressing went straight into French oak hogsheads, approximately 40% new.

The Real Review, 26 May, 2019
Medium to deep red colour with a good rim of purple and a lovely sweet, aromatic spicy bouquet, which is underlined by some attractive oak. A subtle touch of mint. This adds an edginess to the tannins, which are firm and assertive. It would benefit from another year in the cellar. Good value!

Light-ish in terms of intensity but smoky and stalky and full of interest. It’s a lovely pinot noir and makes for terrific drinking. Better than its equivalent 2017 release by a margin. Tangy, taut and undergrowthy. Love the spread of fine, spice-drenched tannin here too.
