A great wine that will deliver all you want in a cool climate cabernet without breaking the bank. All the juicy dark red berries we love come to the fore alongside bramble, dark chocolate and violet characters, all wrapped up in earthiness and fine-grained tannin. It’s a medium-bodied red that’s soft, fleshy and elegant. If you’re keen to see what a bit of cellaring will do, give it 3-5 years.

Maturation

Post pressing, wines were racked exclusively to 300L French oak for secondary, malolactic fermentation (MLF). After maturation for 15 months, the naturally settled wines were then racked and blended in preparation for bottling.

Pure plum and cassis flavours are supported by notes of bramble, chocolate and cigar box.

Vinification

The fruit was destemmed and crushed into static fermenters and inoculated straight away at low rates to promote a slow start fermentation slowly. One tank remained ‘on skins’ for a month post ferment.

Bright colour; the fragrant bouquet of cassis and dried herbs is replayed on the medium-bodied palate, cassis riding high, wide and handsome, giving an edge of intensity by green capsicum. The tannins are particularly well behaved, insisting the wine's elegance be recognized and rewarded.
