Alluringly fragrant with sweet pear, honeydew melon and strawberry fruit flavours, bundled up in bright natural acidity. Hints of rose petal and guava dance around the edges. It’s rich, smooth and elegant, testament to the winemaking prowess of Don Lewis and Narelle King. Enjoy it alongside calamari salad with sliced pears, walnuts, red capsicum and rocket.
Quinces and rose water with hints of frangipani fragrance on the nose.
Oak maturation for pressing for 1 month.
A luscious textural wine with mouth filling juicy pear characters, well balanced, lingering and dry.
The grapes were machine harvested, crushed and pressed through an air bag press in the protective presence of SO2. Cold tank fermentation was undertaken at between 9 to 12 degrees celcius. The pressings and free run were fermented separately. A portion of pressings was transferred to barrel for fermentation and post completion, was stirred weekly for 1 month before being blended back with the free run for fining and cold stabilisation.

In 2014 the grapes for Tar & Roses Pinot Grigio were sourced from four main vineyards; Billi’s Vineyard (formerly Merron Park), two vineyards in the King Valley, and the Stratford Vineyard just north of Nagambie. The higher altitude of the first vineyards provide cooler conditions, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly, ideal for the development of the delicious classic fresh peach and pear like flavours, while the warmer region brings out the more tropical aromas of the flavour spectrum.
