Maturation

It was then run off to a mixture of new and seasoned French oak barrels for seven
months’ maturation, during which time it was regularly topped and racked. The wine received a traditional egg white fining before being bottled in February 2015.

Palate

Hints of blueberry, cinnamon and sandalwood underpin the exotic nature of this wonderfully expressive wine. The dark character of syrah is lifted by the floral aromatics of viognier – the perfume and depth of the style is balanced perfectly by the elegant fruit and fine even tannins.

Vinification

The syrah grapes were combined with a small quantity of viognier, then destemmed and co-fermented. The resulting wine remained on skins for extended maceration before pressing.

Fruity, accessible Syrah with red berry, plum and black pepper flavours plus a hint of floral character and a suggestion of fresh herbs. Co-fermented with around 2% Viognier which gives the wine a silkier texture as well as adding to the aroma. Great value at this price.
