The lineage of this wine has a stream of trophies and gold medals to its name, both locally and globally. This outstanding red is silky smooth, dense and full of power. Weighty red berries, plums and every dark berry fruit you can imagine saturate the core, surrounded by playful violet and oaky notes. Exceptional structure will allow cellaring for 20+ years, promising amazing results.

Tasting Note
Aroma

Dark cherry and plum are the primary fruit characters with subtle vanilla and chocolate characters adding to the in-viting aroma.

Maturation

Parcels remained in barrel for an average of 14 months prior to blending. Only the best barrels from the multiple parcels were used to make the final blend. Once blended the wine was prepared for bottling.

Palate

A delicious rhubarb like character runs the length of the palate. The wine has ample tannin but it is supple and velvety. Restrained vanilla and creamy oak char-acters fill the midpalate. The wine finishes elegantly with intensity of tannin and flavour.

Vinification

Following harvest the fruit was crushed into a variety of small fermenters (4 to 6T in capacity). Fermentation was carried out at a warm temperature (25-28°). The ferments were manually pumped over to provide good control of tannin extraction. Each fermenter was treated as a separate parcel of wine and once dry was filled to American oak (40% new). Following malolactic fermentation the wines were racked and returned to the same oak.

Super rich. Hints of liquorice to go along with perfectly matured berries. Would love to see more oak. JC Juicy & smooth with a nice surprising acidic hit at the end.

Wow, there’s plenty happening in this deep, rich and super-concentrated Barossa shiraz. Loads of dark chocolate and mocha plum-pudding characters. A sprinkle of spices and some nice coffee oak influence provide further enticing complexity. There’s power, yet admirable control and finesse. Terrific.

Seems to have looked to McLaren Vale and borrowed some of that region's dark chocolate signature, but also added the depth of Barossa Valley shiraz in a top vintage, and thrown in a bucket of firm, savoury/earthy tannins for good measure. Demands further time in bottle. Drink By: 2037
