Voluptuous blackberry and plum flavours burst from the glass accompanied by hints of coffee and chocolate. Rich, satisfying and silky smooth, this has all the hallmarks of McLaren Vale Shiraz. Enjoy now or try cellaring over 4-6 years for more softness and flavour development. Delicious with any red meat dishes or rich tomato based pasta.

Palate

A soft entry that quickly fans out and saturates the palate: the perfect blend of power and elegance. Medium to full bodied in nature, this wine has ample fruit purity combined with lively savoury nuances. Notes of primary blue fruits combined with liquorice straps and a brilliantly fragrant floral overtone. Tannins are savoury and detailed. They run long across the palate and opens the wine to a long complex finish.

Vinification

The grapes were crushed into and fermented in five, seven and ten tonne open fermenters. During the peak of fermentation the batches received regular pump overs 2-3 times daily to extract colour, flavour and tannin. The average time on skins was 15 days. The free run was drained off and the skins were pressed, with the pressings then combined with the free run. After 24 hours the wine was racked to barrel where malolactic fermnetation proceeded. The final blend was lightly fined and unfiltered prior to bottling.

Pretty cherry and raspberry scents mark the nose of the 2018 Angel's Share Shiraz. Sure, there are some darker notes creeping in as well, but this is a bright, primarily red-fruited wine with crisp acids and fine-grained tannins. It's medium to full-bodied, showing a bit of astringency on the finish.

A very plush, blackberry nose and palate here. Really soft, supple and saturated with rich, dark-fruit flavor. Full body. Drink or hold.
