Two Hands Gnarly Dudes Shiraz 2018
This red berry fruit bomb is dripping in spiced plums, vibrant blackberries and chocolate, with fresh flowers and cedary oak on the side. Its structure speaks of bright acid and tight tannins ensuring a long, pure palate. Sweet and delicious this Shiraz is all about power and intensity without heaviness. It will drink beautifully with roast beef and garlic mushrooms or sharp cheddar.
Aromas of black accent fruits like blackberry, juniper, charcutierie and notes of coal dust and aromatic black pepper.
Shiraz
Matured for 12 months in French oak, which 13% was new, and the remainder in one to six year old puncheons and hogsheads.
Medium to full-bodied in weight. Saturates the palate as only a Barossa Shiraz can. Plenty of bounce and energy across the palate with aromatic notes of dried flower, black peppercorns and a good dose of Barossa preserved meats. Tannin profile starts off sort of cuddly then quickly tightens, finishing quite firmly. Savoury notes of wood-smoke, fried juniper and bay leaf provides a distinct spice profile whilst notes of blackberry bush provides a herbal overlay.
The many parcels making up this wine were crushed into and fermented in three, five, seven and 10 tonne open top vessels. Regular pump-overs three times daily were performed during the peak of fermentation to extract flavours, colour and tannins. At pressing, the free run and pressings were combined to tank, then racked to barrel for oak maturation where malolactic fermentation occurred. All batches were kept separate and blended just prior to bottling.
