Maturation
After 12 days on skins the wine was basket pressed and put to old French and American oak for 9 months. The wine was blended and bottled with no fining and no filtration.
Oaked
Palate
This wine has loads of blueberry and black pepper character on the nose. The whole bunch component gives a dried herb character to the wine and adds freshness to the palate. It is lighter and juicier than what you might expect from Barossa Valley Shiraz.
VarietalV_SHIRAZSYRAH
Vinification
30% whole bunch, fermented using wild yeast in small open fermenters; This wine was foot stomped to allow gentle extraction of colour, flavour and tannins.

Another popular
Gourmet Trail stop where you can find yourself oscillating
between next-gen wine styling, such as this 30 per cent
whole-bunch, wild-ferment, foot-stomped little beauty
with its violet and blue-floral bouquet and slurpy, juicy, spicy
medium-bodied delights, or a smashing Whistler 2015
Shiraz with more trademark, old-school oak in play
in classic mode: rich, thicker around the waist, yet
deliciously well-tempered and balanced.

The name goes well at suggesting
the wine is a light-hearted affair,
which is partly true. A ‘drink in
youth’ style but you can see that
fruit concentration, a sense of
purity and general balance makes
this a bit of a cut above. Joyous,
berry-fruited and lightly spicy
stuff.
