An impressive drop, the Yabby Lake Single Vineyard Syrah is complex and polished. Bursting with herby, spicy aromas, you can also detect notes of licquorice and black pepper. It tastes of berries red and black, nuts and a hints of graphite. Perfectly paired with a juicy filet mignon.

After 10-14 days on skins, the wine was pressed into tight grain 500L French oak puncheons for malolactic fermentation and maturation. The wine remained in oak for 11 months and was racked once during maturation.

The Real Review, 19 September, 2018
Deepish purple/red colour, with a meaty overtone to its raw blueberry fruit nuances. The wine is medium-bodied and softly fleshy in texture, the flavours having matured just enough to be interesting despite the wine's extreme youth. Very stylish. Some spice on the palate. Fine grained tannins. Dare I say a Rhône-ish style.

A wonderful wine. Polished, powerful, characterful and satisfying. It tastes of nuts, smoked herbs, berries red and black, graphite and a dry, almost savoury version of licorice straps. Full array of flavours and scents and bright with them too. Utterly seductive, and impressive.

The syrah handle is used mostly to define shiraz grown and crafted in a more cool-climate setting. This stylish and silky style bursts with fragrance wafting with a herbal/spicy floral note like sage and thyme to begin, then a sense of licorice and black pepper that adds a delicious complexity and intensity to the flavour profile. It’s rich without weightiness and has an engaging length. Really tasty. 4.5 Stars
